Giving Up Good For GREAT!

“The minute you settle for less than you deserve, you get even less than you settled for.”   – Maureen Dowd

Have you ever been in a situation that you knew was not “right,” but you stayed anyway because you were afraid to leave?  Have you ever been in a situation that was comfortably uncomfortable?

Most people, at one time or another, have been in a situation that did not meet their needs and heart’s desires but remained for a period of time because the thought of leaving was even more terrifying than staying in the situation.  At some point, we all need to ask ourselves, “What I am willing to release to have the life of my dreams?  Am I truly willing to settle for mediocrity?  What is it costing me?”

People often regret money they have wasted, but what about time?  At least you can always make more money.  Each day that goes by will never come back again.  It is lost forever!

Life is too BIG to play small!  There are so many places to explore and exciting things to experience.  Why just survive when you can thrive?  Why not make your dreams come true and live with passion?  Life is too short to not live it fully.

If you are in a situation that is not serving your highest good, you can do something about it.  Perhaps you cannot change your situation overnight, but you can change it.  Start off with taking small baby-steps towards what you want.  It might be putting aside a certain amount of money for your BIG dream, taking a class, making a phone call, or researching what you want.  Just do something!  One step will lead to another and each time a new opportunity will present itself.

If you are unhappy, do not complain.  Take ownership of the situation.  It is only when you do that you can truly make your dreams come true.  Focus on what you want, and give thanks for the things that are going well.  By doing this, you will attract more good things into your life for which to be grateful.

It is hard to leave a “good” situation for the unknown.  It takes courage, trust, faith, and the ability to surrender.  However, it is more painful to live with “good” when you know there are “great” things out there to experience.  You do not want to look back on your life with regrets and think, “what if?” and “if only.”

Make a list of all the things you want to do in this lifetime.  Next, set a time frame for achieving them.  Once that is complete, write out what actions will lead you to accomplishing each desire on your list.  I encourage you to also make a list of all the things in your life that you “tolerate” but, unfortunately, are not creating happiness in your life.   Then, write out what you intend to do regarding this situation.  By creating these lists, you have taken the first steps towards creating a “great” life.

Remember, anything is possible with hard work, 100% commitment and a dream!  Have fun, and DREAM BIG!  Do not let another day slip through your fingers.  Grasp your dreams, and hold on tight.  Now is the time to live the life that is rightfully yours.

Life is not a dress rehearsal.  YOU ONLY LIVE ONCE…DO IT RIGHT!
