ARE YOU LIVING YOUR BEST LIFE? Is there something you would like that you have yet to achieve or possess? Perhaps there's something you've always talked about doing like running a marathon, writing a book, traveling the world, or building your dream home. Perhaps you would like more money, a loving relationship, or a stronger social network.
By completing the following exercise, you will have a clearer understanding of what areas of your life are working, and where you may want to direct some more time and attention.
Please rate the following areas of your life on a scale of 1 to 10. Rating an area as "1" means that it needs a lot of improvement, and you are not satisfied with your current results. A rating of "10" is the highest rating an area can receive. This means you are perfectly happy with this area of your life, and it is not an area of concern for you. You would prefer to focus on other areas. While life is filled with ups-and-downs, the ultimate goal is to eventually rate every area of your life as a "10" and live with that rating more often than not.
Keep in mind that a "10" will change as you change and achieve your current goals. For example, years ago, when I struggled with my weight, losing weight was a Level "10." When I lost weight, a Level "10" became getting toned. When I got really toned and firm, a Level "10" turned into running a marathon. When I completed a marathon, my Level "10" once again shifted.
What did you notice about your scores? Are you happy with your ratings? What areas of your life are really going well, and what areas need improvement?
When working with my clients, they are often upset the first time they rate themselves. They feel overwhelmed, angry, depressed, and upset. While I want you to honor and acknowledge your feelings, I don't want you to get too wrapped up in them at the moment. It takes a lot of courage to go through this process, and I want you to acknowledge yourself for your efforts and determination to live your best life.
You are doing something that most people never do. You are taking action. You are courageous and bold, and, as a result, you are putting the odds in your favor of getting everything you have ever wanted!
When people start this process, they often have ratings between 0-3. Scores as such are not unusual and are rather quite common.
Even if you are not happy with your scores and with your life, know that you are now on the path to making your biggest dreams come true. You have he power to create your ideal life!
When working to change various things in your life, start off small. Think in terms of "baby-steps." Take on one (1) thing at a time and be compassionate with yourself as you work to change and grow.
You are off to a great start! Now that you know where you stand, you can figure out where you want to go and plan how to get there.
Always remember, YOU are the creator, designer, and author of your own life story. Make it a day to remember ...
Always Dream BIG!
